Fabric

Hallone are committed to producing quality, clean and eco-friendly garments with a low environmental impact.

All Hallone garments are designed from high-quality, organic and recycled materials.

Our partners are chosen carefully for the quality of their work, but above all for their involvement in respecting human rights and nature.

We have built relationships based on trust and we select our partners with the assistance of certification standards, such as SEDEX, BSCI and WRAP to ensure that social and ethical rules are applied and followed.

This is fundamental for us.

  • Organic Cotton

The cotton textile industry is the second most polluting industry after oil. Cotton accounts for around 40% of global textile production. Organic cotton is the eco-friendly alternative to traditional cotton. It is grown ecologically from natural compost which replaces chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

Organic cotton is grown without GMOs in order to prevent harm to the ecosystems around the production fields or damage to the biodiversity of animal species.

As well as being as comfortable and resistant as conventional cotton, organic cotton also allows us to save considerable quantities of our most precious resource: water.

  • Linen

At the top of the list of eco-friendly materials, linen wins first place because of the many environmentally friendly qualities throughout its production chain. Flax cultivation does not require irrigation as plants grow naturally thanks to the sun's warmth and rainwater.

Water consumption is therefore low, and there is very little need for fertiliser and pesticides as it uses about 5 times less than cotton. Flax does not produce any CO2 because the roots fix this emission in the earth and retain nearly 250 tonnes of CO2 each year in Europe.

  • Recycled Polyester

Polyester is derived from plastic, which is manufactured from oil. Very polluting, a significant amount of energy is required to produce polyester. During its life cycle, polyester remains a polluting material as it releases microplastics each time it is washed. We now include recycled polyester in our clothing to give scraps of unused material a chance, recover plastic waste and give a second life to worn clothing. Polyester recycling allows us to recover the waste that pollutes the oceans and give it a second life. For example, 11 x 50 cl bottles were recycled to make our Essentials Sweatshirt.

  • Recycled Cotton

Recycled clothing is made from recycled and reused materials. There are two processes. The first is the recycling of pre-used materials or clothing. This is known as post-consumer recycling, i.e. these materials are given a “post-consumption” second life to prevent the use of virgin materials in textile production.

To lower our ecological footprint and prevent waste of any kind, we have chosen to integrate recycled cotton into our production chain for the manufacturing of high-quality clothing.

Cotton is a natural plant fibre surrounding cotton plants. It is the world’s most produced natural textile fibre, especially in the textile industry.

  • Sorona®

Sorona® is derived from the harvesting of maize, from which glucose and/or sugar is extracted, and to which micro-organisms are added in order to start a fermentation process. An acid is then added to create a chemical reaction which produces Sorona®.

Thus, the petrochemicals traditionally used to manufacture synthetic fibres are replaced by non-petroleum products. Sorona® is therefore a "hybrid bio-polyester", a mix of natural and synthetic materials.

  • Hemp

It grows very rapidly, in just 3 months, and consumes very little water (4 times less than cotton). From seeds to stalks and hemp hurd, every part of the plant is used after harvesting.

This natural material is highly valued by ethical fashion brands which use it to replace industrial chemical materials. It is therefore an obvious step for us to offer you this material in our jackets. Hemp is fully in line with our commitment to produce high-quality, clean and responsible garments with a low environmental impact.

  • Lyocell

Lyocell is an ecological plant-based fibre that is created using wood pulp from eucalyptus, bamboo or hardwood trees. It is a 100% cellulose-based artificial fibre. Lyocell is made from cellulose extract, a protein naturally found in wood.

When processing it into fabric, this cellulose is dissolved in a non-toxic solvent that is 99% recycled after use. Additionally, lyocell produces 10 times more material than cotton per cultivated hectare and requires very little water during its manufacture.

  • Modal

Softer, smoother and more hard-wearing than viscose, Modal is a very popular choice in the production of eco-friendly textiles. Thanks to its low environmental impact, it is one of the most ethical and ecological materials in the world.

The primary benefit of modal is its ability to absorb moisture while keeping you feeling dry. Modal is twice as hygroscopic as cotton. What is a hygroscopic fabric? This means a substance that tends to retain moisture from the air, either by absorption or by adsorption.

If in doubt, you can consult the Ethical Labels section in our Sustainability page which sets out all certification guarantees for the use of organic or recycled fibre composition in all of our clothing.
